Summary Of Ujaar By Samaresh Majumdar

Kamal moves to Los Angeles on a work assignment where he befriends Shivkumar and Disha, both of whom are of Bengali ethnicity. The comfort of a familiar language in an unfamiliar country leads Kamal to grow close to Disha and to earn work favours, he even gets married to her ?in jest? in Las Vegas. In India, Kamal?s father has already chosen a girl for him. Disha?s family too has picked out an N.R.I suitor for her who arrives in Los Angeles. Soon, its time for Kamal to head back to India as his current work project nears completion. What will Kamal choose? Will he nullify the marriage with Disha? The girl chosen by his family is still not married. Will she accept Kamal after the betrayal? Legendary author Samares Mazumdar crafts a beautifully nuanced and revelatory story about a love triangle that explores the highs and lows of living in a foreign country, longing and love in a modern contemporary setting. ?Ujaar? is an immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.
