Democracy at work is the main theme of the play. In the name of democracy, the plutocrats exploit the nation. The cabinet is subject to the tyranny of the voting mob and the choking hold of capitalism. The king, Magnus, ironically is a true democrat. But Proteus, the Prime Minister wants to curtail the royal-power. However, the shrewd Magnus checkmates the Prime Minister and upsets the Apple Cart.
