Summary Of Palette: Collection of Haibun

Palette is meditation on memory’s playback loop, creating a connection in readers’ mindscape. In this precisely textured collection of haibun, Rajorshi Patranabis’s prose shimmers with surprise and invention evoking a specific mood, his sweeping narrative airdrops haiku on every page.

Striking a balance between realism and artifice is an arduous task but here images are never forced, the ruse always grounded in feeling and understanding. The poet is doing it with urgency and an attention so exceptional it comes out as tenderness with sensory details. It is also riotously, delightfully refreshing, infused with the poet’s signature romanticism and the profound sense of place. Palette shows how each haibun can sustain strong feelings in the reader.
