Under the mentorship of Rabindranath Tagore, ‘Parbani’ was published in the year 1917 helmed by Nagendranath Gangopadhyay. It was the first ever annual magazine in Bengali literature. Even though Parbani was only published one other time in 1919, it was a pioneer launching a cultural trend of yearly magazines in Bangla which is relevant even today and continues to gather momentum with each year. Compiling both editions of the glorious magazine, Parbani consists of works by illustrious authors as Dwijendranath Thakur, Sibnath Sastri, Jagadananda Ray, Chunilal Basu, Priyambada Devi, Sukumar Roy, Abanindranath Thakur, Ina Devi , Pyarimohan Sengupta and many more stalwarts. This book is a gold mine of the delight, nostalgia and carefree abandon of childhood!
