Designed as an introductory text for the undergraduate first-year students of all branches of engineering, the present book covers the basics of civil engineering which is required by the students in the beginning of their four-year engineering studies. This textbook covers four parts of civil engineering: Building materials, Building construction and architecture, Surveying, and Highway engineering. All the chapters are arranged in a logical sequence in order to maintain the continuity of the different parts as per the syllabus. Illustrated numerical examples are solved in the chapter wherever necessary.
