A group of explorers and scientists set out to investigate reports of a giant underwater sea creature that has been spotted in the Pacific ocean. Among them are Professor Aronnax, a French marine biologist, Ned Land, a Canadian harpooner, and Conseil, Aronnax?s faithful servant. The ship they are aboard, the US Navy Frigate Abraham Lincoln, is attacked by the ?sea creature? that they think is a giant narwhal. The three passengers are hurled off the ship by the impact, and they are taken ?into the creature?. To their surprise, the creature is, in fact, one of the most advanced submarines in existence. And its captain is a man so nefarious that he has become a part of Science Fiction for all time, the indomitable Captain Nemo.
