The Sense Of An Ending by author Julian Barnes won the Booker Prize in 2011. The story is narrated by a retired man, Tony Webster and is divided into two parts. The first part is set during the 1960s, which introduce four characters with Tony and his friend Adrian being the central characters. The boys vow to remain friends for life. They are compelled to part ways post the school where Adrian attends Cambridge University and Tony goes to Bristol University.
